Default Apparent A8V deluxe failure

Apparently the A8V deluxe motherboard has failed on my system. I am
unable to boot... it just sits there and does nothing. I called ASUS
tech support and they gave me some instructions to follow. Take out
the memory and try to boot. Take out the processor and try to boot.
When I take out the processor I get the voice saying "No CPU installed"
When I put the processor back in and try to boot I get nothing.

Tech support said that this indicates a problem with the CPU. I
replaced the CPU - AMD 64 3200+ - with a new AMD boxed CPU. When I
attempted to boot I got a " System failed due to overclocking" After
looking through the manual, I shut the machine down and tried to reboot
and get into the BIOS setup. That failed. Since then the machine is
dead.

Anyone got any ideas?

What is the brand/model number of your power supply ?
Is there a funny smell coming from the power supply ?
If you have a spare power supply, I would be trying it
right now.

Power supply failures are a frequent event. That is
the first thing I would check out. It could be that
+12V is not making it to the 2x2 ATX12V power connector.
The 2x2 ATX12V is used to power the Vcore circuit for
the CPU.

If a spare power supply doesn't get a peep from the
system, next step in your case would be to RMA the
motherboard. If the motherboard is killing processors,
you'll want to return it under warranty as soon as
possible.

I got a power supply tester, and checked out the power supply. That is
good. I cleared the BIOS.

Since I could not get anything to work I sent the motherboard back to
ASUS for repair.
