********Does Anyone Know?????***********
At one time I came across a DLL file that would allow you to view the
data on an audio cd. If you replaced the windows/system32 DLL with an alternative one the files and folders became visible on an audio cd. Does anyone know where this alternative DLL file could be downloaded? Thanks for any assistance |

@news.easynews.com: This might be what you want: http://www.sonicspot.com/alternatecd...tecdfsvxd.html note this line on the page: "The conversion process is not instantaneous and may create pops, clicks and gliches in the resulting WAV file data if your CD-ROM doesn't read the data perfectly, but it works well for many drives and is a great "transparent" alternative to using deticated CD extraction programs if it works on your setup." It sounds like one would still be better off using audio extractors with error checking. |

Thank you both for the link.
This is exactly the file I was looking for. Sorry for the misinformation. My memory failed me, I was sure it was a ..DLL. Makes more sense that it would be .VXD. Thanks again ............. And because it's a VXD, NT won't use it. You will find it much harder to lie to the NT filesystem. Mike -- http://www.mrichter.com/ |

Only if you are using Windows 9x - It will not work on an NT based OS such
as XP or Win 2000, because these do not use VXD files. -- Graham Mayor wayco wrote: Mr Richter ........ Are you telling me that I will not be able to use this file to read the folder structure of an audio cd? Are you suggesting that I will experience problems or stability issues if I use this file? Again, more importantly, its makers say they cannot guarantee that audio files taken in the method will be free of pops and such. If the choice is between convenience and error-free, convenience loses. |
