Default .cda files, convert ?

x-no-archive: yes
I'm trying to burn my first music CD ..using either Nero or Burn 4 free
...and wouldn't you know, the first CD I put in my CDROM drive and copied
the files to my HD to be burned to a CDR .. were all .CDA files .. I
don't want to convert them to MP3 files,I'd like to convert them to .WAV
files so the music can be played on a regular Boise CD player.
many thanx

Theo..it's me, the other 'invalid'.. just changed my address so we could tell
which 'invalid' it is G
anyway, I DLed "Exact Audio Copy" just fine . I sure feel stupid but can I now
take my original music CD, transfer the music .cda files to my HD and then run
"Exact Audio Copy" and it will copy the transferred music .cda files (change
them to .wav files) from my HD to a new CD ? I'm not getting much help from
the 'HELP' in Nero or Burn4Free
Just reread your note and I'm thinking that "Direct Audio Copy" just might
convert the cda files to wavs BEFORE they go to my HD.(and from there I can
burn to the new CD)
many thanks for your patience !

this is not how you get audio files from a CD audio disk. .cda files are
merely pointers to the actual audio streams that windows makes. Windows
interprets the disk and makes one cda pointer file for each audio track. If
you want to extract the audio use something like "Exact Audio Copy",
available via
www.downloads.com, or other places. It will convert the raw
audio stream into a wav.

ok ..and I'm reading the basics for burning.. have 2 questions:
Where do I install the 'lame.exe' file I DLed to go with EAC ? in the
Encoder part ?
and how the H*** do I uninstall "MusicMatch" ..it's capturing my WAV
files. Already did Norton's uninstaller etc rebooted and the stupid
thing is STILL there. Don't need this grief right now.
again..thanks

I DID IT .. made my first audio CD ! I never could have done it without
your wonderful and knowledgeable help. Got rid of MusicMatch (thank
Gawd) .. used EAC to transfer to HD in wav format and Burn4Free to burn
to CD .. no problems. I'm now listening to the "Moonlight Sonata" on my
NEW CD !
Thanks for putting up with me .. and I did learn !
from Houston !
