Default Can I upgrade my 1GHz Compaq Deskpro EN Intel 815e to something worthwhile

Hi All,

I have a Compaq Deskpro EN, it's a 1GHz machine but I would like to
make it faster.

Are there any comments regarding worthwhile CPU upgrades or perhaps
overclocking?

I notice that when I am doing processor intensive operations, i
periodically get CPU over temperture alarms which suggests to me
overclocking would not be a good idea. My model has a small form
factor and thus cooling is probably an issue without doing some
extensive (and probably not worth the effort)re-plumbing.

I am also planning to upgrade the memmory from 128MB to 512MB

Any comments appreciated. Computer interogation below:

That is the fastes P3,socket 370 CPU. Dont be fooled by a 1.4
Celeron, the 1.0 P3 is faster.

If you are overheating, clean out your heat sink, cut a hole in the
top of the case and add a case fan.
