Default Anyone with the same problem

Running on WindowsXP Pro with Roxio's DirectCD 5.x and Iomega DVD+RW burner.

DirectCD 5.x working wonderfully with WindowsXP and CD-RW and DVD+RW drives.

After running Windows Update with HighMAT (from Windows Update), the system
didn't recognise the burners (CD+RW and DVD+RW). The bios misbehaved and
had to flash the bios. After flashing the bios, the bios and WindowsXP
recognises the drives but WindowsXP doesn't load the drivers correctly and
hence no drives.

Removed the LowerFilters and UpperFilters in the system registry for CD
drives and re-installed Roxio. Drives working under read only.

Re-installed WindowsXP over existing and CD-RW and DVD+RW works but DirectCD
5.x doesn't work. Upgraded to Roxio's EasyCD 6.0 and drag-to-disc always
doesn't work and always report drive busy and fails to write to DVD+RW.

Gave up and un-installed Drag-to-Disc and installed Iomega's Drag 'n' Drop.
Now the drives works flawlessly but had to re-format all previous DirectCD's
disc.

Anyone had the same problem?

Yes get rid of the Roxio crap and use Nero..

And never Ever use DirectCD or similar product..

InCD doesn't do CDR (the last time I tried it) while DirectCD does.

2 cents worth-
Examine why you installed the Windows Update. If you didn't have a
problem, why do it?
Some non-microsoft software and hardware providers scramble to be
compatible with Windows just to have "updates" invalidate their
efforts.
While I do not believe in the Gates/MS conspiracy to take over the
world; they obviously have minimal concern for integration with other
software.
Anytime you change your OS you must suspect it will affect programs
subordinate to that system.

P.S. If it aint broke, don't fix it!
