Default List of chipset default BIOS settings

I need to create a document that lists the default BIOS settings for
different chipsets. I'm hoping there's a simple way to gather this
information. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I should look?

Some motherboard manufacturers put this information in the handbook,
others do not. I would first try to obtain as many motherboard handbooks
as possible. You might also want to look through the manufacturers
websites, and email the manufacturers and bios writers to see what
information they can provide. Then use google to see if you can identify any
third party websites that list the information, also reset the bios settings
on as many machines as you can, and document the defaults to those, ask on an
appropriate newgroup for settings for particular boards that you do not
have access to, maybe use a wiki so that people can add to your lists.

Here is a BIOS report generated by AMIBCP.EXE for my old socket 7
motherboard:
http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/M571/M571_V70.RPT

It lists all the BIOS modules and BIOS settings, including the hidden
ones. It tells you which location in CMOS RAM stores the setting for
each chipset register.

You could download the BIOS updates from various manufacturers and
analyse the ROM images for each.

There are different versions of AMIBCP for different chipset and CPU
classes, as denoted by the first two digits of the AMI BIOS ID.

I believe Award had a similar utility, but AFAIK Phoenix does not, or
at least it is not available on the Net. You might like to poke around
at http://www.wimsbios.com/index.jsp for more info.
