Default Printing Question

As I pursue my woes with this SamsungM2820DW on W7, I have discovered
something I never noticed before. I seem to get different printer
options & settings choices depending on whether I
1) open a document with the program set up to handle it
(or)
2) right click on the documnt sort-cut icon and select print from the
next menu

The details:

I tried with a .txt file, a .doc file, and a .pdf file.
When I open a .txt file it wants to run Notepad.
When I open a .doc file it wants to run MSWord.
When I open a .pdf file, it wants to run Adobe Reader.
Naturally.
None of these seem to print on the Samsung correctly.

When I right click on any of the three type files, and select 'print'
though, it runs the same and different program, one I am not familiar
with, and produces a different set of printer options & settings.
What program is that? It has no 'Help' or 'About' that I see. Why
would the printer options & settings be different?
All of these in this case print on the Samsung correctly.

No wonder I have been confused.

Thank you

Big Fred

The *BEST* printing experience will be by pulling the document from the
application and modifying the job accordingly.

Using the Context-sensitive choice of printing (actually performed by
command line) inherits a limited setup of the Default Printer. The
capability will also vary based upon the application associated to the file
type.

Thank you for your response. I have since found that W8 and XP do
even worse with this Samsung. No wonder I got the printer for a good
price. Waste of money IMO. Thank God I only spent $40.
