Intel Active Monitor Voltage Warning
I'm running a D875PBZ with a P4 3.0 and over the past 2-3 days I'm
getting the following error reports: 04/09/04 18:47:40 A voltage (+3.3 V) has returned to its recommended range. 04/09/04 18:47:39 A voltage (+3.3 V) has gone outside of its recommended range. 04/09/04 17:33:45 A voltage (+3.3 V) has returned to its recommended range. 04/09/04 17:33:43 A voltage (+3.3 V) has gone outside of its recommended range. 04/08/04 21:20:03 A voltage (+3.3 V) has returned to its recommended range. 04/08/04 21:20:02 A voltage (+3.3 V) has gone outside of its recommended range. Should I be concerned? Could this be caused by a static shock? Russell |

In case you are also running Motherboard Monitor, the two programs are not
compatible. Actually I'm wondering just what's generating the warning since I don't load Intel Active Monitor utility at startup. A small 'Intel designed' popup up (together with a quiet booping sound) stating that the details of the voltage incident would be generated during the next reboot. (I didn't copy the exact words). I only launched the Intel Active Monitor utility to view the warning logs. Is there a motherboard bio level monitoring feature that's generating this error message? I've never seen a message like this before and wonder if it's just a system being overly sensitive or if indeed the power supply is buggy. Thanks for your help :-) Russell |

I suspect that installing the Intel Active Monitor creates a service that is
starts when your computer is booted. Run "services.msc" instead of "msconfig" to look at or configure services. It will have a description of each one. I installed Intel Active Monitor once and got the kind of warnings you are getting because I also had Motherboard Monitor installed. I figure that the two programs interfered with each other because they were accessing the same motherboard registers/ports. I only use Motherboard Monitor now because it has a plug-in for my MatrixOrbital LCD display. You should check your power supply if there is no other explanation, but it would have to be in bad shape for one of the voltages to vary 5-10% or whatever the alarm limit is. Sounds like an unstable power supply unit.
