Default Nero 6 - multisession vs ISO?

I'm very confused about burning data files to a disk (CDR
or DVD+R).

I want to be able to put on several files, not necessarily
all at once but in batches of 10 or 20 files/folders, maybe
6 batches per DVD+R, or maybe 70 files per CDR.

it seems that if I burn a multisession disk, it gives me a
message that only two sessions can be read.

If I burn an ISO disk, it allows me to keep adding to the
disk and all the separate episodes are readable. However,
each time it burns a session, it says "disk at once" which
I always thought meant that the disk is closed to further
writing - but it doesn't seem to be ????

Is it the case that Nero re-writes the entire contents of
the disk each time you add group of files or folders to it?

TIA

And I'm confused how you manage to get Nero to give you these error
messages.
The only thing I can definitely explain is the disc-at-once query. To really
close the disc you need to click on Finalize CD (on the Burn tab). DAO
without finalize is what most other software calls session at once (it may
have a certain germanic logic, but it is confusing the first time you come
across it).

Recent versions of Nero only allow TAO (track-at-once) for multisession
discs and throw up an error message (which you can ignore) if you try to add
a session to a SAO disc. Perhaps you are burning a multi volume disc, but in
that case the data from the 1st session should vanish, at least in a reader.

To burn multi session ISOmultisessionstart ms, TAO should be greyed out
on the Burn tab.
To add a session ISOcontinue msnew select the last track in the dialogue
box that pops up.
