Default Plextor DVD Burner/Software

I just bought my first DVD burner - the Plextor 716A - and was wondering if
there's a consensus as to the best burning software to use with Plextor
drives. It came with Plextools Pro and Roxio. Right now I use Nero for CD
burning so I'm also thinking of upgrading to Nero 6 which includes DVD
burning software. Thanks.

Plextools v2.17 (download the upgrade from www.plextools.com ) if you have
an earlier version is excellent for burning audio cd's as well as data cds
and data dvds, but i'm not sure it does video dvd's. I always use
burnatonce ( www.burnatonce.com ) for video dvds which is excellent
software, but I would not use roxio myself even though it came with my
plextor burner.

Nero is cool, you can download a demo for a trial period. Ellen...how much
did the 716A cost?

It was $170 at Best Buy - I was actually walking out, disappointed that they
didn't have any of the internal drives I wanted to look at (Sony, Plextor
12x, HP), and I saw a box in the aisle containing the Plextors. I would have
been happy with the less expensive 12x, but there weren't any to be found.

Nero 5 does DVD burning too - I use it with a Plextor 708 drive. If you
are clever then you can also get Plextools to burn video DVD disc images
but you have to manually copy the correct directory structure. I tend to
mainly use Plextools - its only disadvantage is that you can't save disc
layouts.

Cheers.

James.
