Ram Upgrade for Del E510
Will 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel work in this PC?
I've put Kingston HyperX 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4300) Dual Channel ram in it. But wasn't sure if the 667 Mhz ram would work. And would the 533 Mhz ram limit the performance of the 667 mhz ram? Currently I have two 256 meg sticks that came with it from Dell as well as the two 512 meg Kingston 533 sticks. New Egg has a great deal on 2 gigs of the 667 Mhz ram right now. I was going to pull out the two 256 meg sticks and replace them with the 2 one gig sticks. |

They will work, but they will be down clocked to 533 (PC2 4300) regardless of what other faster memory is in it as the E510 only supports 400 or 533 DIMMs. http://support.dell.com/support/edoc....htm#wp1052310 |
