Did it happen to you personally? Do you have links to a news story? |

Oh your limiting your fear to just the browser, be truthful your
afraid of all MS products. You would rather let the losers run the net, and make you change your life to suit theirs. I don't let people tell me how to speak, post and least of all, what products I would use. If somebody picked All blue houses to burn or rip-off, would you run and paint your house or move to a red house? Screw all those script kiddies and their mentors, they will not force me to do anything. I haven't seen that problem. Did it happen to you personally? Do you
have links to a news story? It's a well-known problem, someone else posted the link. I've seen SP2 destroy a perfectly good and working NTFS partition. Luckily, it wasn't my computer (one I was rebuilding for a friend), and there were no data files on it YET. So nothing was lost, other than several hours of software installation. If you are thinking of SP2, I'd advise you to wait at least six months. Maybe by then the problem will be worked out. -Dave |

The only references I can see to this, is HYPE from the partition
software makers. Give the link, as I would figure if its that dramatic it should of hit the news reel by now. "Dave C." wrote in message ... I haven't seen that problem. WordPad will no longer open any "Word for Windows 6.0" files, so make sure you have CetusWordPad somewhere. Other than that, the only thing that bugs me is having convince my computer that I really *have* given careful thought as to what files I want to open up. I guess having an OS nanny isn't such a bad idea, if it keeps those less experienced from bonking their installations. Jon |

Plus, it appears that updating the BIOS to a version that loads the latest microcode will help you to avoid/resolve that problem. Are you referring to another scenario? As an aside, the article that Ed pointed to, as written, implies that one should remove SP2 before updating the BIOS. I wonder if that is really necessary. |
