That's your problem.

I did a significant amount of research and did not find those
comments.

Do you still do a significant amount of research?

Maybe you just do not like cordless devices?

Don't be so hesitant.

Welcome back Fred.

Any "gamer's" mouse comes with a cord - for a reason. I just dumped my
MX700 for the MX518.

Hmm, you didn't look very hard.

Here is an 861 post thread with opinions from both sides, lots of people
having problems, lots not.

http://3dgpu.com/forums/index.php?sh...=310&hl=MX1000

Stupid comment about not liking cordless/wireless devices.

Why would anyone have anything against cordless as long as it performs well
for them?

I have the MX700, MX1000, Mediaplay and a Gyration Gyro mouse for cordless.
Still, for gaming give me the MX510 and I was also a big fan of Logi's dual
optical. The Gyro mouse is great for HTPC use as it works in air and has
incredible range but I prefer the Mediaplay due to its built in functions,
and does track on my couch and pants leg when using the multimedia interface
but is fine for gaming when I use the mousepad on the coffee table. Gyration
does make a HTPC specific in-air mouse but it is more money than I wish to
spend.

I have no wired keyboards.

The MX1000 sucks for gaming, lift it off the pad and it skips,
I hate mine, I used it less than a week and went back to my
MX510 gaming mouse which is superb for all uses, not just
gaming. If you are looking for a gaming mouse go with a 510 or
the new 518 and live with a cord.

I've heard this complaint a number of times from users of the
MX1000.

Where? I did a significant amount of research and did not find those
comments.

You should be able to lift an optical mouse off the surface off
your mouse pad without experiencing any difficulties, but a lot
of users are not experiencing as such with the MX1000. I've
used a few optical mice in my time (Logitech MouseMan Dual
Optical & MX510, Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 & Wheel
Mouse Optical) and am able to lift all of those mice off the
mouse pad momentarily without any difficulties or issues.

Maybe you just do not like cordless devices?
