June 18th is last day to buy OEM Windows XP from dell
dell is now stating on their configuration pages that "june 18th is last day
to but oem windows from dell." interestingly this only appears under windows xp home and not under windows xp pro. looks like pro is going to remain available for the foreseeable future. |

The other day I was configuring an Inspiron 530 on dell.com and XP Pro was only an additional $20 over XP Home. Remember the bad old days when Pro was, what, another $100+ ? -- Paul |

They will even pre-install XP Pro at the factory for you. It says this is an extension but doesn't say when the extension will expire so the "bonus" will still go away sometime. |
