Any Drive Brand to Avoid?
jim evans wrote:
The common drives available in my price range are Maxtor, Segate, Western Digital and maybe Fujitsu or IBM. Are there any brands to stay away from? -- jim Hello, Most drives today are decent. Maxtor is definitely below the others you listed. I'd avoid Maxtors, personally. I would go with Seagate for a desktop drive. Fujitsu is very good as well, as is the WD Caviar SE16. IBM doesn't make their own drives anymore, Hitachi bought their technology. The Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB model is probably about the best drive right now for the money. Dave |
