how much is the maximum memory i can install in a compaq presario 4764? and
also should i upgrade the bios? what is the maximum hard drive space it will
recognize?

Max RAM is 80MB (16 soldered onboard and two DIMM slots Max 32MB in each)
Max hard drive is 8 GB unless you use BIOS overlay software from HD Mfgr or
a separate PCI IDE controller card.

If memory serves this system will not boot from a pci ide card.

Older Presarios often offered no boot options. They would boot to the FDD
only.

They were also known to have booted to a HDD or a SCSI controller with boot
ROM, or similar IDE controller. (but not in Dale's town............)
