Default 24" Monitor Options ... Ideas?

I've decided to get a 24" monitor. The one that I want is the 24"
wide screen Ultrasharp 2408WFP, which sells for $619 on Dell's web
site.

http://tinyurl.com/yq4wo4

Because it's a major expense I want to get one for the best price. So
here are some questions:

- Do monitors like the one I am looking at sell at discounts or have
coupons that I could apply to the purchase?

- Are there any system configurations that would enable me to buy a
system and get the monitor for a lower price, and then I could sell
the system?

If there is a XPS 420 for example I could buy that with a 24" monitor
and sell the XPS 420 or my older XPS 410.

I don't have a need for another system -- I expect my 410 could serve
me well for several more years.

I don't know anything about "Optiplex" or other systems that I might
want to consider.

Anyway, any ideas are welcome, just trying to get the monitor as
cheaply as possible. My other option would be to check Craig's List
or eBay for any 24" Ultrasharp.

Yes, checked the outlet and there weren't any there, but I'll keep an
eye on it. I may compromise and get the lesser quality 24" which is
$389 vs. $619.

I configured some systems with 24" monitors but that's not a good way
for me to go because I don't need a system upgrade -- my XPS 410 still
has a few years left on it and I don't want to buy a 420 and sell my
410 -- too much of a hassle.

The other thing that I am considering is to get a smaller 1080p HDTV
and use that as a monitor and TV. Instead of spending $619 on just a
monitor at least that way I'd get a TV too.

I sold my 20" flatscreen (1600 x 1200) for $200 to a neighbor so if I
go to the cheaper 24" at least it's only a $189 upgrade. Right now I
am using my MacBook via VGA and my 410 via DVI on my current 24"
monitor (UltraSharp). That's fine for most situations but there are
times that I could use two 24" monitors on my 410.

I'll keep my eye on the outlet. Thanks.

After doing some checking, I couldn't get a 1080p HDTV small enough
that I'd want to use as a monitor.

I am going to search for the best value for a 24" or larger computer
monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution. It may or may not be a Dell
branded monitor.

I have done business with the Outlet almost exclusively for desktops and
monitors.
Always seemed like the best deal.
When it comes to monitors, I like the idea of new, as the warranty is 3
years, or pay a small amount to get the 4th year.
The outlet only has the 90 day warranty on monitors, so it has been worth
the extra money. (to me)

I did a lot of research tonight, and I'll probably go with the 24"
Dell Ultrasharp. I have an older version and it's a great monitor, so
I'll go with what I know. The new one also has a HDMI input. I would
go with the 27" monitor (since I'd be splurging anyway) but it doesn't
have a HDMI input.

Before I buy from Dell though I am going to see what SAMS Club has. If
they have something a few hundred $ cheaper I'll be able to try it out
and if it's not up to par I can always return it.

Yes, thanks also for the heads up -- you've saved me some time
monitoring the outlet. Not worth it to save just a few bucks.
