HP4200C Scanner Lamp
I have a HP 4200C USB Scanner whose lamp doesn't shut off after a few
minutes. to make the lamp shut off, I must envoke I use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard in XP Pro which shows in a dialog box that the PC can't locate the scanner--despite some USB init noises in the scanner as though it's trying to do a scan. I use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard in XP Pro. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks, Donald |

HP4200C Scanner Lamp
verify the scanner is listed in device manager as an imaging device.
if it isn't( or if it's under other devices with a ? next to it): install the latest twain drivers for the scanner if it is: rt click on my computer go to manage on the left panel. expand applications and services click on services on the right panel: make sure windows imaging acquisition service is started and automatic if not, set it and reboot ~hope it helps Danny |

HP4200C Scanner Lamp
I also have an HP4200C scanner also lamp never turned off. HP has a lamp
control patch that turns lamp off after a few minutes. Go to the site below for a number of latest drivers for this scanner for XP, etc. In my case, the driver I used a few years ago did not turn off the lamp. At that time, HP provided the patch which I installed. I have the patch for Win 98 and XP. If you can't fine what you want, I can email one or both for you to try. It only needs to be run once. My email in the news group is not a valid one. Leave yours here and I will email the drivers to you. They each are about 150k in size, fairly small. http://drivers.soft32.com/driver/dow...ner-18564.html -- Dave C. HP4200C Scanner Lamp

: http://drivers.soft32.com/driver/dow...c_scanner-1856 4.html I thank you kindly, but I use the Scanner and Camera Wizard in XP Pro. No matter what I've tried, the scanner doesn't 'kick over': the darn thing just makes grunt noises to act as though it was initializing, but the scan bar doesn't move and no startup and homing sequencce. I tried the mini driver on the HP Drivers page, it needs the LT scan software to be installed. I read somewhere that you need to unplug the USB plug, wait, reboot. If not, the Camera & Scanner Wizard shows that it finds no scanner-- despite being plugged in! This thing stinks. Thanks for the help. -- Donald |
