new build GA-8IG1000MK 865G RT
hello,
This is the first time that I build a Gigabyte board after having recently built premium (intel) Abit and Aopen boards. I needed the micro-atx form factor and support for intel processor. The system is mb: GIGABYTE GA-8IG1000MK 865G RT psu: Enermax EG495AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX v.2.0(24p) cpu: Intel P4C 3.0 Ghz (northwood) RAM: 1GB, Kingston Value (PC3200) AGP Video: Matrox Millenium g550 NIC: EG1032 v2 (Gb) (disabled on-board LAN) Drives: 2 optical(CD, DVD-RW), 2 IDE HD's, 1 floppy Fan: Zalman CNPS-7000B-AlCu Temps: CPU idle 32C, Hard drives 32C or less at idle OS: Win2ksp4, SuSE 9.2, Grub Boot loader Here's the few outstanding problems remaining: o CPU fan header is not working with Speedfan. No matter what, it always shows the same speed. No fan control is possible via software. Do all GA boards have this problem? Is QFan supported anywhere in the GA line? o Sandra04 shows 5V - 4.33V and 12V - 11.98V Is this the fault of the Enermax PSU or the GA PWM? The Bios says this is OK. o The AGP slot did not give a firm fit to my Matrox card. Though it works fine, during shutdown I'm getting color artifacts and streaks as it starts to close. There is a little play or wiggle in the VGA/DVI connectors. I may try and hot glue the card's plate to the case at the back. While the above things stand out to me, I'm pleased with this board over all. The ease with which SuSE installed is a huge plus. thanks for your guidance, tlviewer |

This can't be right. Please tell me that I made a mistake in the wiring. Normally when the PSU powers the board there is at least one status LED lit. o CPU fan header is not working with Speedfan. No matter what, it always shows the same speed. No fan control is possible via software. Do all GA boards have this problem?
