Default Can Roxio and Nero be installed on the same machine.

I have Nero installed on my machine. However, according to a Microsoft
article 315350. The XP writer is actually from Roxio. I like the Nero
software better - just personal preference. However, in order to be
compatible with my school, I need to use the internal XP software. Is there
any way that Nero and Roxio can be installed on the same machine at the same
time without bumping heads?
Thanks,
Ken

It is InCD that will clash with the XP burning engine, not Nero. The two
otherwise work happily together.

I actually have both installed. Theyve been working OK for me since
EZCD 5.1xxxx.

If you do install Easy CD Cremator, don't be careless and thoughtless.

Easy CD Mangler requires a complete system backup - even for updating
the POS:

if you are going to update such software, have a complete
system backup first so you can restore to your current conditions even
if the update fails.

Is a backup essential now even for an update of Easy CD Cremator?

I consider an image backup essential
before any major software installation

I suspect that those who have trouble are also careless
- perhaps thoughtless - about their use of their computer systems.

Why any competent computer user would fail to 'buy'
such inexpensive insurance is beyond me.

Yes Mike, I agree, Roxio should post a very BIG warning:
Do not attempt to install ECDC 5 until you have made a full system
backup, removed the backup media and stored it at least 100 yards
away from any ECDC 5 component including the box it came in.

======================
Yes, I imagine that's a habit folks who install Adaptec software
develop quite early in the learning curve

======================
Is that a representative of Roxio justifying software which
doesn't properly uninstall? Is it so difficult for them to do
that an attempt is made to defend their inability?

Backup? Hell, I'm considering installing it alone on a separate
installation on a separate partition on someone elses computer.

screen of death.

You made a complete system backup, haven't you? No?

How could you be so careless and thoughtless!

Actually, there isn't any way to install Roxio on the same machine by
itself without it bumping heads with itself. It gets really hopeless
if you have any other software on the machine :-).

Nero itself and Easy CD Creator from Roxio, and the inbuilt burning of
XP generate the same ISO sessions, so you should not have problems.
Nero does appear to add a little of its own which results in
complaints of not being able to check updated files if you try to run
a second session on a disk created by Roxio software, but that can be
ignored.

To the specific question - yes you can install both those Mastering
programs on the same machine. What you must not mix are the
packet-writing InCD and DirectCD (now Drag to Disk).. The XP inbuilt
software BTW does not do packet writing at all.
