Default Warning on boottprocedure

Hi,

Who can help?

When I boot my system, I got a message by checking de master/slave
connections:

SMART Failure Predicted on Primary Master: Maxtor...... (the HD)

They advise me to make a bachup and to change my HD. By pressing F1 windows
start up and everything works OK.

I think I risk something when I ignore the warning. But I take that change.

How can I get rid of this warning?

Thanks for your reaction

Frank

To get rid of the warning, you can disable SMART in CMOS (hold down either
F2 or DEL, while booting). However, it might be wise to make an image of
your partitions, at this juncture.

Make a backup, and replace the HD.
If it's within warranty, a SMART failure is an acceptable reason for most
makers to replace.
