I explained why it isn't possible and an ASDL 'modem' isn't a modem at all - it is a network connection to a vast wide area network. This goes for ALL ASDL 'modems'. You can only fax via an analogue 56k (or lower) modem that connects directly to your phone line. Now will you please cease and desist as the answer is always going to be the same! Faxing requires the recognition of tone pulses which an ASDL 'modem' is incapable of decoding. If it cannot recognise tone pulses, how do you propose dial the fax numbers, pray? Some people just don't know when to quit... -- Perdita X. Dream Please help us to help you http://groups.google.com http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm. Please note that the reply address is fake. excuse me, but 1 min i bin told that there are some around and i did see 1
on the web, but was looking for something so i didnt bother bookmarking it or taking much notice to it, i am sure i saw it but cannot remember where it is. also you have given hardly a reason to beleive you as 'the modem' leaves the line free for telephone and other fax machine, why not an internal fax machine with 'the modem' as you put it "Perdita X. The ONLY way an ADSL modem can do faxing is if there is a completely
separate regulare fax modem built inside. Save yourself TONS of hassle and just get a regular fax modem for your PC and use two phone jacks in the wall. "123xxxxx" wrote in message ... can any1 tell me if this modem has fax on it plz http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/product_d...ef_site=kelkoo |

OK, as you won't believe me, or anyone else who's told you the same thing, may I suggest you follow the Google Groups link in my signature and enter "faxing ADSL" in one of the search boxes. You'll have your answer then. Or, if you're still not convinced (and someone as stubborn as you is going to take a LOT of convincing) then try these links: - http://www.fida.com/faq/faqs_for_hur...0_adsl_mod.htm http://www.btofaq.net/articles/misc/internet2fax.html http://www.eicon.com/support/helpweb...x_and_adsl.asp And if that doesn't convince you then I give up. You're either too stubborn - or too thick (or, probably, both). -- Perdita X. Dream Please help us to help you http://groups.google.com http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm. But! Some ISDN-adapters includes an extra analog modem that can be using for analog fax. Wrong again. YOU can send fax through ISDN line digitally. Sending fax is digital anyway, It's just converted to analog. IF it's analog line, this is done in analog modem, if it's digital, it's done in the central or at your home, if you have ISDN. How do you connect analog fax to ISDN line? you must have digital to analog converter and that is what SOME ISDN modems have built-in. But not all. Analog part (if exists) is used onyl for connecting analog phones to it. Bu tit can't be done with regular programs for sending faxes via analog modem. It must be a program for ISDN. But in any case, that analog part is NOT intended for modem to be capable of SENDING faxes, but more for RECEIVING them via normal analog fax machine. If you receive it with computer, you don't even need that analog part. And modem is general word, as ISDN modem, ADSL modem, calbe modem... they are all so-called modems, so don't be so picky. We all know, what it means. |
