Default Toshiba 2520 Blank Screen

Hello.

Wondering if anyone knows what might be wrong with a laptop I'm trying
to fix - The screen blanks (goes very faint) about 1 minutes after the
laptop is turned on. If you leave the laptop alone and close the lid for
about 10 minutes you get the screen back, but it blanks again after
about 1 minute.

Its a toshiba 2520, about 5 years old (and that might be whats wrong
with it

Its not a software issue. External monitor works fine. I've opened up
the laptop and checked all connections and wires, but that did not fix
anything.

Any advice as to what might be wrong (so at least I can tell my client
why it cannot be fixed) would be appreciated.

Thanks, Gary.

that's the backlight turning off, gateway replaced mine for $300 ooW. 2
weeks later it wouldn't turn on. $300 more, they claim it's unrelated
replaced mb. 2 days later spontaneous rebooting. replaced whole laptop. 2
days later hard drive goes click-click-click (head crash?). They're nice
enough to replace that, waiting for its return. good luck and dont attempt
laptop repair unless it a hd or ram.
