Default dvd burning problem

hi

just bought a pioneer dvr106 and also some blank dvd's (bulkpaq dvd-r
orange)

my problem:

I have tried backing up various files. The files appear to have burned ok in
nero (also tried geardvd) and also all files are visible in the explorer,
but only some files are accessible for me to use, (run, copy ect) other
files on the disk are not and can even lock up the system by just selecting
them. the files I am having problems with appear to be the ones copied last
onto the disk.

Not sure if this is related to the cheap media or possibly the writer is
faulty any ideas.

Thanks for any help

Mike

Update the drive firmware and/or , if possible, reduce the burn speed.

Many thanks

I did both (updated firmware and reduced speed to 2x) and tried 3 disks all
burned perfect, guess these disks can't handle 4x speed.

Many thanks for your help

It may be the media but more likely the write speed. Try writing at a
lower speed to see whether the error rate is acceptable. Though I'm
using a 2x recorder, I've found that 1x (regardless of the media) gives
better results.
