Default shutdown issue

Ok, I have fixed the fan issue in the Compaq Presario 1600 XL-145 and found
that is was only half of the problem. What I have found now is that somehow
the T and the Y buttons on the keyboard are set as shortcuts to shutdown and
start the notebook. I have checked in BIOS and in Control PanelKeyboard and
couldn't find any settings to change. I am assuming this setting would be in
BIOS because I have reinstalled WinXP Pro and the issue is still there,
unless there is a key stuck on the keyboard somewhere. Also, if I hook up an
external keyboard it doesn't do it (which makes me think it might be the
keyboard). So, if anyone might have an idea on what might be going on here,
would you be able to help me out? It is sort of tough not being able to use
those two keys. Thanks
