Default IPS based computer monitors?

With Games in particular and with most Action movies

ok but my main concern was finding a display that had
VERY good viewing angles...such that a person could see
the video/movie from almost any position in the room.

There are many proprietary variations on IPS and PVA panels.
It's possible some of them are faster (response time) than others.

Why not find an IPS monitor, and look for user reviews with regard
to blur ?

I just searched on "178" in the monitors section. No comments about
games here, but one person uses the monitors for video work. I also
tried a search on "IPS" to dig up a few more.

There is an Asus here with a "P-IPS" panel, whatever that is.
178 degree viewing angle, 6 millisecond grey to grey. Warranted
to have fewer than 3 stuck pixels.

One reviewer here, mentions a Dell u2410 has a better black level.

Dell u2410 - it's an IPS.

Good luck in your search,
