Epson R1800 from Singapore
The R1800 has just been released in Singapore. I have received advice
from Cathay Photo the cost is $1006 Sing Dollars plus 5%tax if you buy it over the counter. $1006 SD equals $840 Aus Dollars. Still can't figure out where Epson Australia are getting there price from to be so much more than the rest of the world. rm |

Still can't figure out where Epson Australia are getting there price from to be so
much more than the rest of the world. Looks like it's AUD$686 - AUD$722 in the states. ($520 - $550 USD). That seems to be the range of local price without tax or the price shipped within the US directly from Epson no less. A tad cheeper than IT national at AUD$1000 ($770 USD) not including GST. Taking those factors into account, looks like AUD$1350 ($1,028), so almost double what one would expect to spend buying from epson direct with free shipping an no tax. Wow. Could be they must pay a higher license fee for CD printing. Could be the cost of tech labor to fix them under warranty is higher, which is likely to be required often. Could be they stand to profit less from ink sales and make it up with a higher cost of the printer. Or could be they know you can't get them from else where in Oz so they charge an arm and a leg for it. |
