Default Scary Ebuyer goings on (not ur usual Ebuyer post, pls read)

Today (09/01/04), Out of the blue I get an e-mail from Ebuyer.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Courier: City Link (http://www.city-link.co.uk)
Consignment: KCN08210
Order: 78386

There has been an attempt to deliver your order. Can you contact your local
City Link depot to arrange delivery at your earliest convenience. Goods will
be held for 5 working days before being returned to ourselves for a refund,
in which case they will have to be ordered again.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Other information:
PREMISES CLOSED - TIME CARDED Faild at 15:04 on 09/01/04 (HSM)16:39

Kind Regards,
Ebuyer Customer Support

I go to my old Ebuyer orders page under my account. An order with the order
number 78386 is there. The order was placed on 09/10/2001 and was for

1X Fireball Plus AS Hard Disk Drive 20GB UIDE 100 8.5ms 7200rpm - OEM
23737 - £57.75

The tracker for the consignment number is

http://www.city-link.co.uk/pod/podfr...JobNo=KCN08210

Any thoughts on why this happened? No courier has been today that I know of
and I haven't received any sort of card either.

Regards,

tHatDudeUK

With City Link it's really not out of the ordinary. I'm sure their drivers
are set targets of how many to deliver, and they just say they've carded
people to cover their backs. Either that or it's to cover themselves and
prevent having to refund the carriage, because they 'will' (and often do)
just argue their case saying the consignee was carded.

We get this kind of complaint all the time where I work (CCL). My best
advice would be to call your local depot and ask. I'm not sure about
ebuyer, but we are looking into this as it's not fair on the customer,
especially after paying for next day delivery. I'd advise letting ebuyer
know about it.

You seem to have missed the main point of the post. The random e-mail
reffered to an order number which was an order from 9/10/2001 which is over
2 years ago, I already received the order in 2001.

Oops erm... that's a bit... strange. City Link have a service where
failed deliveries are automatically emailed to the account holder (ebuyer)
every 20 minutes or so. Still doesn't explain the date, but it looks like
something at City Link's end.

The ebuyer e-mail is triggered when CityLink report a failed delivery.

Which would be quite useful and reasonably impressive were it not for
the fact ****tyLink are a bunch of imcompetent/lying scumbags who
often claim to have either left a card or failed to find the premises.

My guess is there's a link between the two companies systems and
ebuyer probably use it to measure performance of CityLink against
contract so they simply lie to make it appear that they attempted
delivery on time.

It's likely they either got the consignment number wrong and it's the
status for someone else's order or perhaps they didn't properly record
the delivery and are closing off open records on their system?

Try calling e-buyer and tell them you've been waiting at home for your
drive for the last two years and the driver just happened to drop by
when you popped out for provisions or something. ;-)

So phone citylink and ask them to confirm your parcel is there waiting for collection. If they do, go collect it. Print out the
ebuyer email for the number and tell them the dog chewed the card.

-----End Quoted (and cut) Message-----

Last month I got an email (or was it a message on their web site?)
saying that I had been "carded". I rang to say that at the alleged
time of the incident I was sitting eating my breakfast (I get up late)
and could see all the traffic up and down the private cul de sac to
our house. No delivery vans in sight.

The response was that there had not been any card, but this was the
only way in which they could tell their system that they had moved the
package from one van to another.

Doesn't explain your saga, but does show that you can't believe what
they tell you.

MK
