Default PC World

A relative of mine purchased a Ei System (laptop) from PC World a couple of days ago (have never heard of such a name). The following day they emailed me to say that they had what looked like purplish lines running across the screen. Take it back and demand you money back I said. This was their reply.

"Sorry lines on screen were normal and said no to exchange or refund."

What rules and regs can they throw at them?
