Archival Question
I need to have a reliable backup for about 30 GB that must be retrievable
after ten years. What is the best medium for this purpose? I read that hard drives can develop problems if they are stored for more than a few years. Is this true? -- Walter www.rationality.net - |

And another question you need to consider is if there's going to be anything that can read the media in the future. -- Conor "Some of you may be anxious about finding a new job, or a new place to live. I have plenty of harddrives here that are ten - twenty years old and still work fine. I'd test the drive once a year or so... or even copy it to a new drive in 5 years or so also as a precaution I think I'd burn the data to DVD's too |
