Default Compaq Smart Array Controller 221 and Linux

Hi everyone,
I'm trying use to this RAID controller under Linux and while it's
correctly detected by the cpqarray module, I'm unable to discover
attached disks and therefore unable to create any partition on them.

I've installed the cpqacuxe (7.0.1) but it reports 'no supported
controller found' (which might be right since the aforementioned
controller is not is the list of supported hardware but it's the only
tool I've found so far).

My question is now obvious: has anybody been able to use this controller
under Linux and if yes, using which array configuration utility? I'm not
even trying to boot from the array, only storing data if I can... And to
make things worse, I'm not using the board in a Compaq server.

Thanks in advance.
