If you tried to install a Copermine PIII (800MHz) into a laptop that had a
Katmai PIII (600MHz) and vice versa, you may well have damaged both CPUs. Sounds like you weren't grounded when you handled them, and they got zapped
with electrostatic charges. And/or, do they have any little DIN switches that got accidentally changed? And/or, are you sure they are plugged in correctly, with no bent pins, and fully seated? And, how do you know that a PC boots if there's no sound and nothing on the screen? Incidentally, what's the CPU? #pins? socket? etc -E "N M" wrote in message news:jSK5d.6479$me5.3791@trnddc06... allright i have a laptop presario 1700 , 600 cpu, i thought of upgrading the cpu, i pulled out a working 800 mhz from another presario 1700, i swapped cpu's , the laptop boots , but i do not see anything on the screen , no sound, simply nothing i powered up the 2nd laptop , same results. i swapped teh cup's back, same thing, nothing on the screen have i burned out both cpu's or what did i do???? thnx for help |
