Default Lexmark X2600 and X3650 scanning question

Is the Lexmark X2600 or X3650 able to do a preview scan? Then allow
selecting a much smaller rectangle for the actual scan?

Can the default scan resolution be set for all future scans, or does it have
to be re-set each time the software is started?

This would be a feature (or not) of the scanning software
rather than the printer. Many scanning apps operate many
types of printer i.e. we are hardly ever obliged to use the one
app. supplied free with most scanners/printers.

I should have mentioned that I was referring to the scanning software
supplied with these printers. I downloaded the user manual from the Lexmark
website and all it said about scanning was "Follow the directions on the
screen…"! Grrrgh

What your wanting out of your scanner software is pretty basic stuff. I've
only used 2 scanning applications so far, one being Visioneer and the other
the software that came with my Canon but both offer the features you want.

Yes, I agree. But if the manufacture's website and downloadable manual
doesn't say, I thought it would be a good idea to ask!

Thanks for that info.
