Default AVIVO Video Encoder - How to Access It?

Downloaded and installed the AVIVO video encoder (6-8_xcode_35179.exe).
Running Cat 6.8 "Chuck" with CCC. How do I launch the app? I don't see it in
CCC.

The AVIVO only works with certain cards...are you sure your card is
compatible?

When you open the CCC in "Basic" mode, it's one of the options.
As far as I can tell it's only available through the "Wizard", normally.
I use GraphEdit so I have access to the property pages for the
filters that make up the converter.

I recently got it to work with my hardware capture card and
convert the MPEG2 to AVC1 in realtime.

Luck;
Ken

P.S. To use GraphEdit add the following DirectShow "filters":

File Source (Async.) [I select my .mpg source with this filter]

A splitter for whatever type of source [I use MPEG_2_Splitter,
don't know where I got it from. But you probably have several]

ATI MPEG Audio and Video Decoders

[ I throw "MatrixMixer" and an Image Scaler in here]

ATI MPEG Audio and Video Encoders

ATI Multiplexer

A File Writer or "Dump" filter.

There is a hacked version that works with any vid card.
Google "Avivo 1.12"

It was one of the first things I tried after looking at the instructions on
ATi's web site. The video converter doesn't show up as one of the options.
Strange. The cards are X1900XT Crossfire, so compatibility shouldn't be an
issue even with the unhacked version.

I use GraphEdit so I have access to the property pages for the
filters that make up the converter.

Thanks for the instructions you attached at the bottom. I will take a look.
The program looks pretty flexible on its own.

Pretty impressive, huh? Funny this is all done in software, with no GPU
horsepower utilized.

There is an ati "catalyst control center" on my desktop.

I click it. A window pops up and displays:

setup my display configuration
avivo video converter

Works okay for me.

Running it through the "Wizard" is extremely limiting.

Just right-click on the filter boxes in GraphEdit and then the
"Filter Properties..." button. You should see a great many
settings you can't get in the wizard.

I have gotten some acceptable results that play OK in VLC,
but not well with the Core Codec. I still think it is great for
some applications but falls short for higher quality, full screen
video. Which may be why ATI dropped any access to those
settings with the Wizard. (That may mean there is still hope
they will work the bugs out for that type of encoding, and
offer it again.)

Luck;
Ken

Default AVIVO Video Encoder - SOLVED

Checked the Event Viewer. It turns out the AVIVO portion failed on
installation without invoking any explicit error message. Browsing to the
AVIVO folder where all the files were extracted and "manually" running
setup.exe seems to work. Now the video encoder is finally showing up in CCC
like it's supposed to. Weird.

Thanks to all who offered help.

Graphedit is an extremely powerful tool, though it reminds me too much of
Simulink...
