As it was a dabs.com own brand drive, and dabs says it can take up

Actually under the sale of goods act they have reasonable time to
affect repair or replacement which is four weeks/28 days.

Which section of the SoG Act states that period please?

The act states reasonable time but nothing specific, but legal
precidence has limited it.

You will find that if you go to small claims they will accept 28 days
because of prior judgements.

There have been no judgments as yet on the Mar 31st amendments.

I am talking about the Sale Of Goods Act from 1980ish, not the
Distance Selling Act.

Who mentioned the Distance Selling Regulations? I am referring to
Statutory Instrument 2002 No. 3045 The Sale and Supply of Goods to
Consumers Regulations 2002 which became effective on 31 Mar 2003.

Trading standards will tell you to wait 28 days
and that is reasonable to expect a repair, replacement or refund.

They will tell you nothing of the sort. SI 3045 introduces two
requirements. The first is to " repair or, as the case may be,
replace the goods within a reasonable time" the second is "but
without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer". There have
as yet been no cases to test exactly what these mean but clearly
they cannot be separated. It might not cause significant
inconvenience to take 28 days to repair a lawnmower in November, it
will certainly do so in July. There is no fixed period.
