This morning I turned on my PC, only to hear a POP, POP... I said oh
!!@#$%$$$@#$@#. I looked at the poor A7v133 Rev 1.05 and on the MB, 2
caps died. (More like they exploded--wish I had someway to get a
pic, they look like they were shot from the inside out sorta like a
firecracker in a can type of thing)
So I guess that blurb about faulty caps was true.

Now I am stuck on a Original A7v with a Duron (Instead of my much
faster Palamino CPU). It wouldn't even post with the pal in it, and I
did update the BIOS to the latest on the asus.de site.

Grrrr I wanted to have the A7v133 last until I could get a decent
Opteron/Athlon64 based CPU&Mobo, but I can't stand the slower system.

I was just wondering, are people getting Nforce 2 based mobos now
(seems to be good), sticking with Asus, or trying out Abit or shuttle,
or epox Or..or..or.. ?

Consider the Asus A7N266 as an intermediate solution,

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...=Asus+A 7N266
$65.99 Special Free FedEx Saver Shipping
Asus A7N266-VM AA (AMD Assured Version) NVIDIA nFORCE 220 Chipset
266/200MHz FSB Motherboard Micro ATX- Retail

This is a pretty good value. The NForce 220 chipset is not as fast as
the NForce2, but you can use your existing CPU. However you will need
DDR ram (the board will use PC2100. I have used both Crucial PC2100
and Kingston PC2700 with it.
