Default Kingston USB pendrive write protected!

Hello. I have come across a very strange problem. My Kingston USB 2GB
pen drive suddenly got write protected somehow. Now it neither allows
writing to it nor does it allow its formatting. I tried formatting it by
right clicking on the drive letter in Explorer under Windows XP and
though Control Panel Administrative Tools Computer Management and
selecting Disk Management. None of the methods worked.

Any idea would be appreciated.
Thanks.

"USB drive appears to be write protected"

Check the registry entry mentioned there. I looked
in my registry, and I don't even have that key present.
I don't have this one.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\StorageDevicePolicies

Be sure to try the drive on another computer to verify if the problem
resides in the drive or in the drivers of your computer.

It's possible to corrupt the info on a drive if it is removed with out using
the XP USB removal program first. You can get more information on how to
"fix" the problem by Googling "fix corrupt USB stick" minus the quotes.
