Audio sounds dull with Nero after v5.5.9.14
I create a lot of Audio CDs from 22kHz mono .wav files and I have noticed
that there seems to have been a change to the way Nero handles these files after v5.5.9.14. I would like to know if anyone else has noticed this too - and if so, if anyone knows any workarounds... Up to (and including) v5.5.9.14, the resultant audio sounds ever so slightly brighter than the original. While this might not be optimal, it was in fact good for my particular needs. After v5.5.9.14, the resultant audio sounds ever so slightly duller than the original, which does not suit my purpose. You can hear these effects just by pressing the Play button in Nero, even before you start a burn. So I have stuck with v5.5.9.14 but now I have a new burner (Iomega 48x24x48) which won't burn with such an old version. I have asked Ahead tech. support who said there is no way to make a new burner work with an old version, and I must upgrade. But they did not elucidate on the audio anomaly. I have not tried upgrading to Nero v6 so I don't know if this is any better at handling the conversion from 22kHz to CD quality. Before I try v6, does anyone have any suggestions as to how the audio handling capabilities of post-5.5.9.14 versions may be improved? Or alternatively, is there in fact some way to make v5.5.9.14 recognise my new drive as a burner? |

Geez, I didn't mean to start a flame war or anythn...anyway, for what it's
worth, I tried Nero v6.3.0.2 and that sounds dull too. I also tried using the audio plugins from v5.5.9.14 with later versions, and vice versa, but no luck, so I don't think it's a plugin issue. Guess I've got no choice but to and upgrade and put up with it... |

The lack of response reflects the situation that writing such degraded audio
files is not an everyday issue. It is simply not something that many people do. I would suggest that it is the audio codec that performs the conversion in Windows that is responsible. Have a dig round on the codecs link at www.dbpoweramp.com to see if there are any alternatives available. -- Graham Mayor Ralph wrote: Geez, I didn't mean to start a flame war or anythn...anyway, for what it's worth, I tried Nero v6.3.0.2 and that sounds dull too.
