Default AVI conversion Conflict

I have tried several different software programs to convert an *.AVI
movie to DVD format. At various process periods, as the programs are
starting to convert the video portion, the computer will do an
automatic shut-down (WinXP op system). Does anyone know how I can
determine which software is having a conflict with the avi conversion
or how to resolve this problem?

Default AVI conversion Conflict

Could easily be a hardware issue, as conversion consume maximum CPU and lots
of memory. Common issues are heat and bad memory, inadequate power supply,
etc.

To start, set Windows to BSOD instead of re-starting, this will give you a
clue to any offending driver or software. (system properties - advanced -
startup and recovery)

If the system truly shuts down, (not re-starting), then an overheating CPU
is the 1st suspect. Open the case and clean the CPU cooler.

To check RAM for errors, download Memtest86 and run it from a floppy
overnight. Any errors indicated mean you have bad RAM.
