Default Problems with Nero overwriting files

Can anyone please help me with the following problem.

I am currently backing up my monthly files onto DVD using Nero
StartSmart 6. Every time I save the next months folder onto my DVD it
overwrites the previous folders.

For example:

In January I saved my folder as: "Januarybackup" and then in Feb, as
the folder I used was changed I saved it as "Febbackup" All of the
files within both folders which have the same name are overwritten by
the new files! I don't understand why?

So lets say that in Jan's folder there is a html file called
"NEWS.html" when I save the Feb folder (which also has a "NEWS.html"
file it overwrites the January one. I can't understand why it does
this.

Thanks

Something doesn't sound quite right. First, StartSmart's "Make Data
DVD" does not do multisession. I don't see how 'Feb' could have been
burned. Second, if you burn the 'Jan' and then 'Feb' directories, by
multisession using either Nero Express or Full Nero, there is no way
files in the 'Feb' directory overwrite files in the 'Jan' directory.
The only scenario that would overwrite 'Jan' files is you did not burn
'Jan' and 'Feb' directories themselves. Were you adding 'Jan' and 'Feb'
directories?

The slimiest friggin SOB Mike Richter has been for years
blaming the UDF to weasel out the bugs of DirectCD:

------------------------------------------------------
UDF is a fragile format
UDF is an unreliable format

the format is very fragile and unreliable

The format is bad - it loses data

The fault is not with the software but with the format

But then again:

I have used UDF for many years, but yesterday I had my first
corruption. I am now wondering whether to bother with UDF

First, your problem is not with UDF

Lets assume you are talking about multisession burning on a DVDRW disc?
All these settings are available in the burn compilation in Nero on the
multisession tab. Suggest you not use StartSmart or Express for multisession
burning. If you import the previous session in to the current one each time
you ad a session, all files will be visible.

IF you're talking about burning with InCD, that's a different thing
entirely.

Backup your files for each month to a zip file then burn it.
