Default Roxio's prob with ~!@#$

it appears Roxio's DirectCD has beef with ~!@#$%^&*()-+|
any files which include those characters burn fine but when I close
to read on all cd-roms, it tells me to change ex: + or - to _

Nero did not have that problem.

No - Nero could not do it at all. That is, InCD (Ahead's packet program)
won't write variable-length packets, so cannot even format a write-once
disc. Since you can't close a fixed-length packet disc (except in the
sense that it is closed when formatted), you cannot have the problem.

Closing a session (or a disc) to an ISO format permits only the
characters allowed in that format. In contrast, an open UDF disc will
take whatever your filesystem permits.

You could try closing to UDF 1.5 - it may take more of those characters,
perhaps all. But if you want to close to ISO 9660, you have to use a
legal character set.

Closing a session (or a disc) to an ISO format

No screeching about the "save one steop" FEATURE?

================================================== =========
Mike Richter (Friggin ****) splattered (6/21/04):

Recent versions of DCD saved the user one step
when closing a variable-length packet session without
closing the disc: they format for the (presumed) next session
when closing the last.

"Save one step"! But the supposed benefit of the "save" is this:

From: "Bob M"
Subject: Roxio Easy CD Creator & Direct CD 5.0

DCD 5.0 does not temporarily close CD's
so the session is always open, and most times,
unreadable on ANY CD drive.

They [cRoxio] hope to have a fix very soon
===================

Wow! The DirectCD bug is a "save one step" feature!

As I understand the spec, that's legal

And the DirectCD bug is even sanctioned by the spec, no less!

Wow! What a Friggin' ****!

Why didn't you respond to this and spew that InCD doesn't do either?

using cd-rw's I can burn archive or read only files
using Roxio DirectCD, but not to cd-r's.
