Default CD-R won't open/read

I have CD-R's that won't open or read. One is strictly photos, the
other is data.

CD-RW's will open and read.

Message I get is: (drive) is not accessible/incorrect function. This
happens if I click on, or try open or explore. Won't read if opened
from a program either.

My CD/RW drive is currently busted (won't read or write), but I am
able to open from my DVD/CD drive. My burner is not working either.
I tried Bad CD Repair utility, got same error message.

My CD Properties show there is NO free space or used space (not true).
The drive keeps showing the drive name, not the name of my CD.

Any suggestions on how to get my files back or make them read?

Thanks in advance.
K.
