Default Problems Using Iomega HotBurn

Here's a bit of background on my problem. I'm using an external Iomega
16X10X40 CD-RW drive. I'm running out of space on my hard drive, but I
wanted to save some images that I had scanned. I hit upon an idea to save
the images to my desktop, copy them to a CD-RW disc using HotBurn and then
send them to my computer's Recycle Bin before ultimately deleting them.
This has not worked as well as I had hoped. For one thing, when I have
finished copying the scanned images to a CD-RW, Hotburn automatically ejects
the disc from the drive. Obviously, if I haven't scanned that many images,
it leaves a lot of empty space on any given disc. I thought that since the
discs I am using are CD-RW, I could copy some of the scanned images to a
disc and then when I had more images I wanted to save, I could just copy
them to the extra space on the disc and the images I originally copied would
maintain their form. This has not proven to be the case. Therefore, I'm
wondering if there's any way to add additional images to a CD-RW after
you've completed the initial burn and have the images you originally saved
maintain their original form. Thanks for any advice!
