Memorex 8x DVD-R problem
I've got a "Memorex DVD +/- RW True 8x" writer that will only write at
up to 4x speed. I'm using Nero Express (came with the burner) and Memorex DVD-R 8x media. Under the drive properties in Nero it shows that the maximum writing speed of the drive is 4x, and that is the best speed it will write at when you burn a disc. Anybody have a clue what the problem might be? Also is there a good freeware application that burns DVD data discs? (In case the problem is with Nero I'd like to check the drive speed with another piece of burning software.) (I first emailed Memorex support weeks ago and have never heard back from them.) Thanks! |

Have you tried looking for updates to Nero? It keeps a database of
drive info which may not know about your drive I did check for a Nero update (first thing I tried actually) and one wasn't available at the time, but I'll keep an eye on that. It does correctly identify my drive by name in Nero, it just lists the maximum speed at 4x rather than 8x. |

Does the Nero web site list the drive as supported?
You can get a trial of NTI CD-DVD maker from www.ntius.com. It's not nearly as good as Nero, but I had to revert to using that because it will allow me to burn CD's at 16x on my laptop, where Nero only allows me to burn at 4x. And my laptop burner drive IS listed as supported by Nero. "dejawhy" wrote in message om... Have you tried looking for updates to Nero? use a disc that is 8x rated for this drive. if you use a 4x disc, it
may not allow 8x burning based on what the firmware says. also, see www.rpc1.org - forums - DVDR for help on media picks for this drive, and the updated, improved firmware that unlocks the drive and makes changes it from OEM to a true Pioneer 8x burner that it really is. |
