XP2600 333fsb or XP3000 400fsb
Hi.
I can buy a XP3000 400fsb for about $150, but a XP2600 333fsb for about $80. In this case, is it possible to OC the XP2600 to match the XP3000 400mhz speed and thereby save about $75??? Both CPU are 2.1ghz. Thank you for your time. C |

There's plenty of room in the 2500+ for overclocking - personally, I'd buy a 2500+ and see what you can push the FSB too (just don't skimp on the memory - I'm tempted to go wild and buy some DDR533) Alun Harford |

With the Barton 3000 / 200FSB, if u were to push the FSB to 215 can the
multiplier be push to 11 or 11.5? "Augustus" wrote in message news:WiIgc.11792$Z4.207@clgrps12... I'm running my XP2500+ at 413MHz x 11 instead of 333MHz x 11. An XP3200+ is 400MHz x 11 I've not done anything particularly clever. I think he's talking about a Tbred 2600 / 166FSB vs a Barton 3000 / 200FSB. This Barton has a 10.5 CPU multiplier for a 2.1Ghz true clock. The Tbred 2600 has a 2.083Ghz true clock. The Tbred will likely have more headroom for overclocking via the FSB, but it has only 1/2 the L2 cache. With the Barton, you'll need PC3500 or higher RAM for overclocking. Kind of a tossup. I'd just get a Barton 2500 and run it at 200 FSB to get 3200+ performance. |

Thank you all very much for your help. I will go get a Barton2500 for only
$70. C "haze" wrote in message ... With the Barton 3000 / 200FSB, if u were to push the FSB to 215 can the multiplier be push to 11 or 11.5? Oh ok. The CPU will go in a FIC AU13 MOBO.
Thanks. C "c" wrote in message ... Mobile processors are simply processors that have added features for laptop/notebook computers. This is usually some form of power saving feature. In the case the the Athlon, I believe the feature is called PowerNow. The mobile processors will work in most desktop motherboards. Chris "Claus Christensen" wrote in message ...
