Default Sony CD Extreme terminology: TAO, SAO, DAO, Fix Up

Hello,

I was wondering if any users of CD Extreme (SCE) can comment on the
terminology used. I am using it to backup nonrecreational data (so
not songs/pictures/movies). When I used Easy CD Creater, there was
the concept of closing a session, or leaving a session open to allow
more data to be written later. As I understood it, each session
contained 1 track. In SCE, there is the following:

1. Track at once (TAO), closed
2. Track at once (TAO), not closed DEFAULT
3. Disc at once (DAO), closed
4. Disc at once (DAO), not closed (session at once)

According to the help, #2 should be used to burn multisession CDs.
I've read the CDR FAQ http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq02.html section 2 on
multisession, DAO vs. TAO, and closing/finalizing. I suspect that in
all of #1 through #4, the "closed" and "not closed" refer to
[not]closing of the *disc* rather than the *session*. Does this
seem correct?

I assume that DAO above equates to SAO in the FAQ question#2-9.
Is this reasonable?

Finally, there is an option:

Check every file for read permission at Fix-up (Recommended)

I haven't been able to find what Fix-up is or when it takes place
(presumably at the start of the writing process). I wonder if
someone could please point me to an explanation, or elaborate on
one himself/herself?

Thank you!

Since sessions are always closed, the "closed" refers to the closing of
disc, just as you surmised.

Yes.

RecordNow, the newer version of CD Extreme, does not have the option.
Instead it has an option to check for "readability" of files before
recording. From this you may assume the "fix-up" means compilation
time.

I wonder if
someone could please point me to an explanation, or elaborate on
one himself/herself?

Thank you!

You are welcome.
