Default SCSI DVD recorders?

Has ne-1 come across a DVD recorder
with the following specs:

- SCSI interface
- slot-in load
- internal mounted (external is OK too)
- 4 to 8 Mb buffer
- dual-layer recording (single is OK too)

I'm looking for SCSI for the writing speed
but should I maybe go for external FireWire
if the speed is comparable?

While there were some SCSI CD burners (Plextor coms to m ind), I don't
remember ever seeing a SCSI DVD burner.
You are looking for SCSI for the writing speed? The ATA connection is
already much faster than any DVD writing speed we will ever see.
If you are looking for the other advantages of SCSI over ATA (higher
effiency), then SATA is your best bet. I know of one: Plextor 716SA (it also
has 8 MB cache and does DVD+R/DL, but not slot-in).
External Firewire drives are simply ATA drives in a Firewire-connected
external case.
Slot-loaded burners are now few and far between. Plextor has them (716AL),
but not SATA-connected.

Sorry, I meant read speed. Thanks for the heads-up
about Firewire. I'll see what I can find in the way
of SATA drives. Sounds like the way to go. The slot-
load, of course, eliminates the extra steps of opening,
mounting, closing a tray so would be nice to have.

The only slot loading *RECORDER* that I'm aware of is (or was) made by
Plextor (PX-716AL). It's an IDE/ATAPI drive but you can purchase a
generic ATAPI/SCSI adapter card to convert it to work with a SCSI
controller.

http://www.plextor.com/english/products/716AL.htm

It's a 16x single layer +/- burner, and a 6x dual layer burner.

WARNING: It's expensive. MSRP is 179 USD and based on a quick scan
of local pricing, street price isn't far off for this model.

Thanks.
