Plextor PX-708UF External DVD Writer - Question

I am thinking of buying this DVD burner on-line (I've read good
reviews on it AND there is a $50. mail in rebate). I have an Dell
Inspiron 8200 laptop with firewire and I want to make sure it will
work properly. I used a friend's LaCie DVD burner with this firewire
connection with no problems, so I ASSUME this should work okay, too.
BUT...since I am getting it shipped, I want to make sure there won't
be any compatibility/device recognition issues. I don't expect any,
but it would blow to have to ship it back if there were problems.

If you have one, let me know how you like yours and if you've had any
problems.

I've used a couple of these drives with both USB1.1, USB2 and Firewire.
I haven't found a computer that hasn't worked although one PC seemed to
write faster with USB2 than it did with the Firewire connection -
probably a configuration issue.
