Default Can a SATA optical drive boot up?

Hello, I am considering buying a ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204

But I am not sure a SATA can boot up (When installing Windows).
my core is:

AMD Athlon XP
Codename: Barton
Specification: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+
MOBO: A7N8X Deluxe Rev2 BIOS 1009
AGP Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
I think in BIOS it has an option as to whether ssci should boot first
or SATA. If this is true then I should be able to use the
ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS. and it should boot, right? TIA

This is very similar to my spare PC which now runs Win7 Pro. I
couldn't find my motherboard CD so I left the IDE drive in the PC and
also connected up a SATA drive. I installed originally from the IDE
drive and let Windows install the SATA drivers. Subsequently I have
re-installed from the SATA drive without problems.
