Life of a LTO-1 tape
This is a higly debated topic, my friend. The official answer is
something like 30000 passes (not sure of the real number). The problem with that number is that most people shoeshine, and one backup can result in thousands of passes. That means that your mileage may vary. Me: I don't throw away tapes until they get a write error. Then I throw them away right away. Rob Nicholson wrote: What's the recommended life of an LTO-1 tape?
